Alternative Routes to Certification

To be eligible for ARTC, you must already have:

  • A bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college
  • A major or 30 credits in a “critical needs” subject area or closely related field.  The only exception to the 30-credit single critical need subject requirement is world languages, in which subject a native speaker may qualify with a bachelor’s degree in a subject other than the target language.
  • Passing scores on Praxis Core – reading(156), writing(162), and math(150) OR passing scores on PPST taken before September 1, 2014.  Vist www.ets.org to register for Praxis Core.  Note: Some SAT & GRE scores will allow you to waive part(s) of Praxis Core. (see chart)
  • A Grade Point Average of 3.0 to align with the standard set for other teacher preparation programs in Delaware.  Limited exceptions will be made when justified.
